What Is It?

TabulaBeach has a special Kerala Tapas pop-up called The Traveling Tiffin that’s on till May 5. This special menu full of Goa-based chef Sangy’s secret Malabari recipes where everything from Meen Moilee, appams and an interesting version of our daily dal.

Who Is It For?

Are you a food purist? Or someone who likes lazy afternoon drunches peppered with anecdotes from the chef’s kitchen? This pop-up is for all of you.

What makes the deal too sweet to resist is chef Sangy’s recipes, that speak of years of culinary tradition that’ve been perfected in a Malabari household kitchen. Recreating the subtle flavours and aromas of Syrian Christian South Indian food, something that Sangy lapped up at her nani-dadi’s, is where the whole game changes and that’s exactly why we’re looking at all the food purists to drop everything and make a run for this menu.

Why Should I Go For It?

It’s as close to authentic Kerala food as you’ll get in Delhi. Getting to dig your toes in the sand, and munch on the crispiest bhindi or fried anchovies. The raw banana cutlets made us believe that bananas could actually come in a very decent form, and the mutton cutlets were polished off like nobody’s business. The veg stew, dal and fish curry in the thali tasted heavenly with the appams and parottas. In short, we’ve been here, eaten here and have savoured every morsel because it’s so new to our tadka-accustomed North Indian tastebuds.

We fell in love with the tropical cocktails that beautifully combined coconut shavings and typical, South Indian spices including tamarind, curry leaves and cumin with Absolut and tequila. If you’re one for creativity, you’ll love their names. So, what’ll you have? Disco Deva with chilli, ginger, Absolut and coconut water or Silk Smitha which is basically Bloody Mary with gunpowder and curry leaves. Okay, vodka is our poison, but they have options in dark rum and tequila too.

P.S: Don’t be surprised if some of them potent cocktails remind you of an iced rasam. And, if cocktails aren’t your jam, there’s beer for your non-experimental palate.

Anything Else?

The brunch is priced at INR 1,799 {plus taxes} without alcohol and INR 2,999 {plus taxes} with the drinks.
