Qutab Plaza’s KoolSkool bookshop sees a steady stream of mummies who are looking for suggestions about the next book their child should read.
Run by book-devourer Amit Sarin, KoolSkool is a children’s bookshop but don’t expect the standard Enid Blyton or run-of-the-mill picture books. Amit has spent long hours reading {and curating} a collection of books that will keep kids of all ages turning the pages. Amit does more than just recommend – he’ll take stock of your child’s reading capabilities and spend a few extra minutes assessing how far they’ve come since the last book. When I asked him what makes him so personally invested in the reading lists of others, he told me that, by pointing young readers in the direction of lesser-known authors, he hopes he’ll be helping the parents cultivate a life-long habit.
Not just children, Amit has suggestions for readers of all ages. In fact, I picked up a spy thriller, on his recommendation, called ‘I Am Pilgrim’ and haven’t been able to put it down. If you’re someone who’s constantly looking for new authors, I’d definitely point you in KoolSkool’s direction.
