Ladakh On Your Bucket List? Sign Up For This 8-Day Trip & Also Help Power Villages

    What Is It?

Just a single family resides in the village of Yurutse, Ladakh and that’s an absolutely phenomenal thought. No neighbours, traffic, restaurants and, also, no electricity. To brighten the lives of this family, Mountain Homestays is organising a 7 night – 8 day trip to Yurutse. Not just travelers, those who sign up for this expedition will be ending years of darkness by installing a solar grid inside this solitary Ladakhi home.

    Who Is It For?

Ladakh features pretty high up on most people’s travel bucket lists and, if you’re one of those people, it would be a shame to miss this epic adventure.

Why Should I Go For It?

Of the seven days, the group will spend about four familiarising themselves with Ladakh’s largely unexplored history and culture. A trip to the very blue, saltwater Pangong Tso Lake {at a remarkable height of 14,000 ft.}, an early morning chanting session at Thikse monastery, the opportunity to try local food, and a stopover at Shanti Stupa – the itinerary is essentially a checklist of everything you’ve wanted to see and experience in Leh. Wildlife enthusiasts, this might be your chance to spot a snow leopard, in addition to species like the Himalayan Pica, Wild Hare or marmots, as the trek to Yurutse passes through the Hemis National Park.

The showstopper, though, will be the one-day electrification project in Yurutse, followed by jubilant celebrations at the home of the Ladakhi family whose lives you will have changed.

    Anything Else?

Everything but your flight tickets is included within the cost of the trip {INR 42,500 for 7 nights/8 days} – meals, accommodation, solar micro-grid cost, permits and such.
