4 Types Of Nails Trending Right Now And How You Can Do Them At Home
Sheer Nails
Hailey Bieber's doughnut-glazed nails have broken the internet. Every celeb or influencer we've seen recently has been rocking these nails, probably because they go so well with everything and are great for everyday wear. We stalked Hailey's Instagram and found her nail artist, Zola, who breaks down all the OPI products used — Base Coat, Top Coat. Gel nail paint in the shade Funny Bunny, Chrome Effects No-Cleanse Top Coat, and Rub the Chrome Effects in Tin Man Can (not all of which are available in India) but worry not, we're listing out products that we feel will do the trick!
Products You Need: Top & Base Coat, Lakme True Wear Nail Color - Nudes V014, Chrome Powder
How To Do It
1. Remove any old nail polish and prep your cuticles.
2. Apply base coat.
3. Apply one layer of nail polish (build according to your liking).
4. Use a small amount of chrome powder and rub on your nail to give shine and the glazed effect (if you like how your nails look after application of nail colour then you can skip this part).
5. Apply top coat.
Italian Manicure
Another trend that's surfacing is the Italian manicure shared by TheHotBlend which is a technique of painting short nails in such a way that they look elongated. Since this is usually done with a solid colour, it's the easiest to replicate at home, all you really need is patience and precision.
Products You Need: Top & Base Coat, nail paint of your choice (We think OPI's Russian Navy would look gorgeous), Nail brushes for precision (optional).
How To Do It
1. Prep and shape your nails (works best with square, rectangular or squoval nail shapes).
2. Apply base coat
3. Paint nails in vertical strokes — the trick is to get as close to the cuticles and the sides of the nails without actually touching it.
4. Apply base coat

Easy French Tips Hack
French tips never really go out of style, they're a classic way of doing your nails. More recently we've seen people do all sorts of French tips — the basic white, pastel colours, glitter, squiggle designs and whatnot! One easy at-home hack that first started trending on TikTok, and is now all over Instagram reels, is the stamper hack that claims to be an easy way to do French tips at home.
Products You Need: Top & Base Coat, Nail art stamper, Nude nail paint of choice, White nail paint for tips (or any range of colours you'd like your French tips to be)
How To Do It
1. Prep your nails and apply a base coat
2. Apply nude nail polish for the base
3. For the tips, apply nail paint on the stamper and gently push your nail tips in it to apply the colour. You can move and control the stamper according to how you want the French tip to look. Here's a quick video tutorial for better understanding. This might be a little difficult in the beginning but you'll get the hang of it after trying for two or three times.
Checkered Nails
Checkered nails can be as busy or as simple as you like, in design. You can also choose to do your entire nails, or use it as nail art for a few nails only, or even do checkered tips. They're not as hard to nail (get it?) as you might think, but definitely require steady hands. If in doubt, it's best to ask your artist friend for help.
Products You Need: Top & Base Coat, nail paints in the colours of your choice, Nail brushes and it's also advisable to keep nail polish remover handy.
How To Do It
1. Prep and apply a base coat.
2. Apply a base colour to your nail.
3. For the checkered pattern start by using a thin brush to create boxes on your nail. Create as many or as less as you like (or as many as you think you can handle).
4. Start filling the boxes with colour .
5. If you'd like to do only tips, you can create guidelines and create the pattern on the area that requires it. Use nail polish remover with a brush for any mistakes.
5. Apply top coat to finish
