A Walk-In
Well, we happen to be a little reserved in our opinion of new, small places that pop up in Shahpur Jat, because they often pop out just as quick. Le Rofl has been on our radar for a while, and we finally went and checked it out. The staff potters around you taking care of your every need, as we found out, and it’s quite a homely sort of place with its wooden decor and warm, lovely food {especially their chilli chicken momos}.
Portion Control? Nah
The cornerstone of this recommendation {and in fact, Le Rofl’s menu} is an appreciation of the size of their portions. The Kiss of Melon, made with fresh juice and mint leaves, comes in a giant tumbler, and their pizzas are 14 inches instead of the usual six or nine. If you’re planning to get one of the mains, be prepared to forego the sides, because they’re huge.
We also tried their spicy chicken wings and Rice with Wild Mushroom Ragout, and we have a special place in our hearts for the latter. Warm, not too spicy, peppered with parsley and absolutely generous, this one left us entirely satisfied. We’d skip the cold coffee, but you can ask for the Oreo shake if you’re looking for sweet nothings.
Hooked On
They also offer hookah in a number of flavours but don’t have it on the menu, so ask for it if you’re inclined to partake. The interiors are done up nicely, and it was a pleasant surprise to know that they feature works by artists on their walls that are also up for sale. The music on the TV is kind of annoying at times, but the food more than makes up for it.
