Life’s A Real Beach At SeaShell Resort In Havelock, Andamans

Living on the beach in rustic luxury, swinging on a hammock under a coconut grove, and splashing about in the Bay of Bengal, all at the same resort, just became a reality.

    Finding Paradise

OK, let’s be honest; if you dumped us on a random beach in Havelock, or any Andaman island, we’d be pleased as punch. So anything really is an upgrade. But that’s not to take away from the fantastic place Seashell is.

Just a ten-minute walk from the ferry dock {which you’ll arrive at from Port Blair or other islands}, and with a lovely beach all to itself, what’s not to love, eh?

    See The Sea

Set under a lush coconut grove {with a net above, fear not}, the resort has only individual cottages, scattered across the space, giving you that much-needed privacy. The furthest from the shore is the Andaman Villa, which is a duplex room {bedroom upstairs with a balcony and living area at the bottom}; great for when you’re staying long and don’t want to be cramped in a bedroom all the time. Plus, there’s hammock outside.

The Andaman Cottages are similar but on a single floor. Our pick, though, are the cosy Andaman chalets lined along the coconut grove all the way to the sea. With a cutesy sit-out and low seating, you can spend ages just looking at the water and the sunrises and sunsets here.

Want something even more indulgent? Pick the Lagoon. A spacious room with French windows for the view that add to the glamour. But in Havelock, how long can you spend indoors, really? Get out, and go diving!

    Under Water

You literally have to just stumble out of bed to do that here, as they have an in-house dive centre which offers PADI and SSI certified courses. Not in that deep {geddit?}? Fun dives are also on offer, and you don’t even need to know how to swim. When you return, though, you’re going to be hungry. Very hungry.

Urban Tadka is their restaurant with a buffet for breakfast and dinner, as well as, depending on occupancy, lunch. We highly recommend the seafood sides. A simple fried fish or masala prawn will do the trick just fine.

If you’re adventurous, the masala crab is the best option. By night, however, make a beeline to Fluidz. An open air beach side bar, any drink available here—alcoholic or not—will soon take on a better flavour in the setting.

Since the islands are much further east from the rest of India, the sun rises at about 4.45am and sets around the same time in the evening. So reset your body clock to suit that {being in bed by 9.45 helps!} and you’ll be just fine. This part is important, as dives are usually at 5.30-6am!
