There’s a little bit of Bollywood inside all us Dilliwallas, and the newest addition to Hauz Khas Village aims to bring that out for the world to see. In the chaotic maze that HKV is, it is surprisingly difficult to miss Lights Camera Action. The black and yellow board right at the entrance will pull you into its filmy clutches.
What makes it different from the umpteen other places around? Wooden interiors embellished with life-sized portraits of Naseerudin Shah, Rajnikanth painted on a dollar bill, Shah Rukh Khan memes, lots of selfies of Bollywood stars and a slightly out-of-context but welcome image of Sheldon Cooper.
The Bollywood craze doesn’t just stop at the décor. The menu is inspired by some of the most popular films and actors. Take your pick from the yummy, quirkily-named dishes such as Sunny Leone Papri chaat, Sallu Bhai ki Biryani, or the Quick Gun Murugun Gunpowder Chicken. End with desserts such as khuskhushi and kache raaste {essentially rocky road}.
So much khaana and no music? Of course not. Dance to the some of the latest and some of the greatest Bollywood hits played by the DJ, who aptly enough stands in front of a sign saying DJ bajta nahin bajata hai.
