Let’s face it. The coronavirus lockdown has made us miss going out to sit in theatres, watch movies and eat overpriced but delicious butter popcorn but there’s no reason we can’t try to recreate that at home (without paying too much for tickets and food.) Lionsgate, a major film and entertainment studio, will be livestreaming one movie every week for free on their Youtube channel. Not just that, the livestream will be hosted by actor Jamie Lee Curtis who will be having real-time chats with fans, movie trivia, challenges and more.
This week’s pick is the classic rom-com, Dirty Dancing, starring the dreamy Patrick Swayze. If you’ve always wondered about the hype behind that iconic dance scene (yes, the one with the lift), or if you’ve watched the movie 100 times like we have and still can’t get enough of it and the song Time Of My Life, make sure you tune into this livestream on time!
All you have to do is go on Lionsgate Movies’ Youtube channel and get ready to meet your new favourite movie. While the event is free, donations are encouraged as it’s uncertain when things will be able to go back to normal. Proceeds will be going to theatre employees who are presently out of work.
