Lock & Key Is Where Grown-Ups Go To Party: Say Hi To G-Town's Newest Speakeasy

Shortcut

Walk into one of the cosiest bars in G-Town, choose the bar for your cocktails and a table for your meal because it’s going to be a long night of retro rock, slow jazz, bass blues and some of finest cocktails and food this side of town.

By The Bar

We finally found a bar that does cocktails with a take on the classics and loads of bourbon on the menu. If the creator of the cocktails is at the bar, you’re in luck, let him choose your menu for the evening and then just sit back and soak in the speakeasy vibe and the music. The interiors are like a gentleman’s club with a mix of burgundy, teal and faux teak, don’t miss the tongue in cheek words on the walls and the artwork is reminiscent of a New York style cocktail bar. We loved all the cocktails we had and we suspect they were close to a dozen but the unmissable ones have got to be the Rising Sun with bourbon, yuzu and green tea, one of the few times all three elements can be tasted as individual flavours. The Smoke & Sour is a bit more theatrical with smoke infused into a bottle and poured into your glass and the Omega Six is bourbon again with almonds and Amaretto, perfect for the season. The bar menu is a good balance of all the spirits and a between artisanal and classics, do drink away. If you’re looking at straight up tipples then their whisky selection is by far one of the finest with about half a dozen Japanese drams too!

For The Love Of Food

It’s great to find a place that balances good spirits with good food {and good music}. The menu is a fusion of global flavours and though that’s tricky, Lock & Key has pulled it off. For bar bites we loved the Petite Gouda Naans, not too doughy and the pan seared Mushroom Gyoza, the Pulled Pork Samosas were surprisingly light too. We’re eyeing the Goat Cheese Cannolis and Rum & Coke Wings for our next visit. For mains we recommend the Baked Paneer Loaf, their take on paneer makhni and the Kung Pao Pork with rice. Between dishes like Khao Suey, Bhuna Gosht Biryani and Mushroom Chicken Steak, there is something for everyone!

So, We're Saying...

The next time you want an intimate evening with your special someone or your group of friends, head to Lock & Key for a no fuss, easy going evening of great drinks, food and music!
