We’ve made many trips to our favourite Majnu ka Tila for the usual laphing, momos and thukpa but this time, we were women on a mission. Our task? To unearth the best of boots, bags and baubles. Did we succeed? Well, we have eight unique finds to rest our case.

Trampa Fashion

Tucked under a guest house, Trampa has some of the prettiest sling bags starting at INR 950. The compact round ones in different colours looked perfect for brunches and the black and brown totes were as if someone read our brief for an unfussy office bag from start to finish.

Have too many bags? They stock up on strappy sandals {the pair we liked cost INR 1,650} and everyday wallets too.

Glam Girls Boutique

A beautifully done up store with white brick walls and wooden shelves, Glam Girls Boutique offers a range of chic faux leather bags in tan browns, greys and blacks starting at INR 1,200. This store located at the end of the alleys of MKT {near Coffee House} is the place to shop if you’re someone who loves neutral colours and fuss-free bags.

Shop Close To Rigo Restaurant

Right by Rigo is another shoe shop whose paw print sneakers called out to us. Inside, you’ll find everything from no nonsense solids to polka dots and denim loafers to trusty walking shoes. It’s a good place to hit up for both you and bae have a shoe hoarding problem.

If you pick the denim ones, a pair might set you back by INR 850 while black Converse is priced close to INR 950.

Bodhi Tree

Bodhi Tree is one of our favourite shops at MKT for it’s stunning hand-made diaries and Tibetan knick-knacks but this time, we hit the jackpot with their gorgeous gem-stone rings {INR 100}, artsy neck pieces {INR 250} and rustic pendants {INR 100} that could totally be worn as statement pieces to perk up any outfit. Also, don’t forget to check the bags and pouches here starting at INR 160.

The Nameless Cabinet

Right next to B Restaurant, you’ll find a bright red jewellery cabinet and it’s literally just that. You might even have to call out to the owner who’s usually never around.

This small cabinet is full of beautiful baubles including turquoise-coloured rings and earrings {starting at INR 250} and quite like a lot of stuff that’ll remind you of Siloffer. Their chunky necklaces are a bit pricey at INR 1,000 but a lot rests on how sweetly you can bargain. Truth be told, a lot of treasure lies here.

Shop Opposite Lobsang

This pink-curtained store is the first bag and boots shop that you’ll come across when you enter MKT. From ankle and knee-length boots {starting INR 1,000} to elegant wallets and bags {INR 600}, this shop stocks it all for the most reasonable prices. It’s not even winter yet and they had a decent variety of boots available already, so imagine how spoilt for choice you will be here during peak season. We can vouch for the quality too because their bags have survived college with us.

Tibetan Traditional Art Shop

Shop no. 16-A near the Monastery houses some of the most pretty-looking traditional Tibetan sling bags {INR 450}, backpacks {INR 550} and wallets {INR  150} in MKT. While their sling bags and backpacks are perfect for regular use, the wallets at Tibetan Traditional Art Shop are meant for dressy occasions and will go very well with your fancy ethnic wear.

We think that you might as well ditch the studded potlis which are a giant black hole, while these wallets have neat compartments to keep everything you need for a party organised.
