At-Home Hair and Make-up Services from The Powder Room

We know wedding season is coming up, so meet The Powder Room, a premium makeover service that does hair, make-up, and draping, all in the comfort of your own house.

Every girl has, at some point, charged into a salon five minutes before closing time, straight from work, with a sari and heels flung over her shoulder, eyebrows grown out, begging to be given an overhauling. We know that feeling all too well. Then, we found The Powder Room, a premium service that does hair, make-up, and draping, right in your own house. We’ve used them over four times, so everything we say comes from first-hand experience. They offer party and {rather-detailed} bridal make-up, hairstyling – including anything ranging from a blow dry to an up-do, or a special hair do – and sari/chunni draping. As for products, expect nothing but the best, so we’re talking Bobbi Brown, Mac, Clinique and Estee Lauder.

All their make-up artists are trained by the Powder Room; one phone call to them and a candid chat about what you need will reveal their more senior, experienced ones. That way, they got your back. Just one thing: Always always specify exactly what kind of look and hair style you’re looking for, so they can come prepared.

They will arrive spot on time, after estimating how much time they think you’ll need. All they ask of you is a plug point, and past that, they’re super self-reliant. A metal case opens into a mini make-up studio, complete with a chair. The accompanying hair stylist will set up shop as the make-up artist goes to work. As for pins, hair spray, and every other inconspicuous thing we suddenly need while getting dressed, just ask and they’ll produce. What’s interesting is, they’ve broken up bridal services into different functions, and have priced them differently. All packages include make-up, hair and draping.

Make sure the plug point you give them can take a big load; the industrial size hair dryer and make-up lights need a lot of power. Their regular timings are between 9am and 9pm, but if you need them at an unearthly hour, they’ll come at an extra charge.

PS: Always call a week in advance for an appointment. Minimum. They have only four hair stylists and four make-up artists, so they’re always running jam packed. Also, ask for Pooja.
