We’ve eaten tikkis and aloo chaat from roadside vendors but a pizza thela is novel. Super Hit Pizza man sets shop in Meherchand Market from 4 – 11pm every day and dishes out super cheesy pizzas in more than ten vegetarian options.

The Crust Of The Matter
We reached Super Hit’s pizza stall around 5pm and the rush was just about building up. His massive, shiny oven {he tells us he sourced it from Rani Bagh market} can bake four pizzas at a time which means that by 7pm, you’ll have to make a beeline and be prepared for at least a half an hour of waiting time.
After two months of serving hungry pedestrians, it’s continuing to build its reputation on a solid crust, it seems. Surprised to see jars of jalapenos, olives, mushrooms, baby corn and pizza seasonings to sprinkle, we realised that we were totally underestimating this whole deal. It was neither decrepit nor a run down little stall.
After being told that the Shahi Nazrana {tandoori pizza}, 12 Topping Classic Pizza and Everything On It have the maximum number of takers, we decided to stick to the crowd favourites. The Everything On It had a mound of grated cheese so big that it restored our faith in the goodness of street food. The tandoori version was desi, homely and everything feel-good on a plate. We loved his homemade pizza sauce {well it’s literally that} and the perfectly toasted base. His steaming hot pizzas will definitely see us again.
Finally, the prices. Gotta confess that they aren’t what you’d expect from a street food joint {starting at INR 50 for a small and going up to INR 300 for a large, fully-loaded one} but there’s no skimming on cheese or rationing of ketchup sachets. So, in our world, the price is just. #SmallJoys
So, We're Saying...
All the designer shopping at Meherchand left you broke? Skip Elma’s and grab a takeaway pizza from Super Hit. It’s called balancing your life.
You’ll soon have the option of ordering in if you’re in the 3km radius but the pizza man’s still looking for a delivery boy. So you’ll have to hold your horses for now and make the trip if you really want to eat them. A good landmark to find him? After the CCD crossing is a Dena Bank ATM. Super Hit Pizza is right opposite.
