Every year on May Day (May 1), the May Day Bookstore and Cafe – Delhi’s only left-wing cafe, celebrates the struggle of workers in a contemporary and fun way. On the occasion of Worker’s Day, the good folks here offer the coolest new, old and rare books at ridiculously discounted rates. The sale is followed by a series of performances and readings by renowned artists and activists. There will be tons of discounted books, including lovely scribbled second-hand ones that start at INR 10, rare paperbacks and hard covers dating back to the 1930s and even crisp, new novels will be up for sale.
If discounted books isn’t reason enough, they’ve also got snacks and city’s best coffee (so we’ve heard) to lure you. In case you’re a baker, feel free to get cakes and pastries as the folks at May Day will be more than happy to serve them.
