Punjabi Mashala {you read it right} is a small thela selling spicy and mouth-watering Punjabi meat dishes near the Lajpat Nagar Market.

If you’re a hardcore non-vegetarian and can handle your spices, this little gem is for you. It’s easy on the pocket as well, so you know it’s a place for everyone to come and enjoy the food.

It’s basically a push cart so don’t expect any fancy seating. You’ll probably be standing around the cart and enjoying the food, which is cool, considering it’s still street food at the end of the day.

While the owner would definitely not win the spelling bee, the food on offer is outstanding. You can choose from chicken/mutton kebabs, brain, liver and champ, which is cooked on a giant tawa in front of you.

All the dishes are finished with a generous squeeze of a lemon and served with roomali rotis, sliced onions and chutney. The fantastic explosion of flavours in every bite tantalises the taste buds and keeps you craving for more.

It’s perfect grub for a nippy wintery evening. I highly recommend that you drive down to Lajpat Nagar at the earliest and try it for yourself.
