In a fondant world filled with forgettable generic chocolate cakes and dry cupcakes with even drier frosting, every once in a while, we come across a home baker who puts a little bit of herself into their creations, giving flavour the utmost importance. Melt is one such establishment, which made its debut at LBB’s Dessert Bazaar earlier this month.
We were completely enthralled by their display, especially the cute little tiramisu pots with little tulsi saplings popping out. Although Melt’s focus is on cupcakes, they also do full cakes and dessert jars/pots on order. Apoorva Kapur, the face behind Melt , has been baking for the last three years {she did a baking course from IHM Pusa where she received a gold medal and did her industrial training from ITC Maurya}.
Choose from a range of flavours amongst the cupcakes, from plain vanilla to almond nutella bursting with nuts, to a very well-done peanut butter and chocolate. The red velvet with cream cheese frosting comes heavily recommended by Apoorva herself, and where we have come across a lot of not-so-great red velvet in Delhi, this is the real deal. The banoffee pie in a jar is another sweetly-presented dessert.
Priced between INR 70-110 per cupcake, you have to pre-order with Melt if you want to experience their melt-in-the-mouth goodness, and pick it up from their workshop in Kirti Nagar. They do deliver on request, but do speak with them to confirm that you lie within their delivery radius. They’re super open to new ideas, so if you want to convert your favourite chocolate bar into a cupcake, ask and ye shall receive. They’re pretty creative when it comes to decorating with edible paper, chocolate, and candies, so go wild with your requests.
