12 to 12 Midnight Kitchen Impromptu, opens in Gurgaon

We were actually quite disappointed when Jing shut down – we had come to love it for its brilliant display of sunshine and dimsum. But from the looks of it, Impromptu {which has opened in its place} is trying to do one better.

Impromptu runs a 12 noon till 12 midnight kitchen, and is based on the premise that there is no fixed time to catch up with pals or to feel hungry. Some of our best meals, and best moments, happen to be exactly that – impromptu.

We love what they’ve done with the interiors – an industrial looking wall with criss-crossing lines of yellow and white makes for a mighty backdrop. This, and some other attention to design detail, has gotten us quite optimistic.

As of now, they’re awaiting their liquor license but are open for chai-coffee sort of engagements, as well as grub. Lunch and dinner work on a buffet sort of system – you pick the meat, veggies, choice of preparation {from Oriental, Continental and Indian} and the meal is brought to you, freshly cooked. Their a la carte menu holds promise; we’ve got our eye on Shiitake Spring Rolls with Sambal Mayo, the Bombay Sandwich with all-critical butter & green chutney, the Pulled Pork Burrito, the Desi Nawab Burger with slow cooked raan, pickled onions & fresh mint and the Avatar 195 with fresh fruit triffle, rabdi, toasted nuts & balushahi crumble.

That’ll do, for whensoever hunger strikes!
