Ultimate Monsoon Skincare Routine For All Skin Types

The arrival of monsoon may bring relief from the sweltering heat, but it’s also a time when your skin can go into total chaos. The increase in humidity and erratic temperatures can lead to clogged pores, strip moisture, or cause breakouts depending on your skin type. For me, the monsoon season is the worst, my face produces more oil than the next-door halwai and clogged pores lead to stubborn blackheads

This is why switching up our skincare during monsoon is important (read: needed). Whether you’re dealing with an oil overload like me or sudden flakiness, we have got you covered. After a full weekend of research and asking everyone around us about their skin types and the products they use, we have prepared the ultimate monsoon skincare routine for all skin types here. This guide is all you need, so bookmark it before you lose it.

Skincare Routine For Dry Skin In Monsoon

The key here is to remember that despite the humidity doing its thing, you have to hydrate your skin. That is because, contrary to popular belief, dry skin can act up even during the humid season, especially if you’re using too many exfoliants or over-cleansing. The only difference would be to pick products that provide hydration without the heaviness. So your routine would include products that deeply hydrates, strengthens the skin barrier and keeps the falkiness and dullness at bay without being too greasy or thick.

This dermatologist-trusted cleanser is ideal for dry or sensitive skin and has a pH of 5.5. The foam is too gentle and doesn’t strip the skin of its natural oils. Infused with ontaline C40 and panthenol it deep cleans your skin and claims to remove blackheads and whiteheads with regular use. It’s mild with a soap-free recipe, so it doesn’t irritate or over-cleanse and is good to use even if you’re dealing with a compromised skin barrier or are using actives like retinol.

Skincare Routine For Oily And Acne-Prone Skin In Monsoon

Monsoon is an absolute nightmare for oily skin folks and we know that. It’s the peak breakout season with sweat, humidity, and pollution clogging our pores and triggering inflammation. What’s even worse is how mindful one has to be in picking products as they need to be gentle, balancing, and non-comedogenic. The following oily skin routine in monsoon focuses on just that while also ensuring breakouts are calmed, oil production is controlled and the skin barrier is strengthened without drying it.

Start with this K-beauty classic that is great for oily skin. I have been using it for over 2 years now and cannot stop recommending it to others. The cleanser is packed with salicylic acid that gently exfoliates the skin, helps unclog pores, and prevents acne. The best part is that despite being an acid-based cleanser it doesn’t dry you out. You can use it once or twice daily depending on how sensitive your skin is and regular use can prevent whiteheads too.

Skincare Routine For Combination Skin in Monsoon

Combination skin in the monsoon is no joke. It’s the toughest guessing game one can play trying to analyse what your skin needs. One part of your face could be drowning in oil (usually the T-zone) and the other part could be flaky or normal or one part could be hyper dry while the rest…you know the drill. Add to that sweating, humidity, and occasional breakout and it turns out to be a recipe for disaster. That’s why having a set skincare routine where everything is balanced — hydration without grease and balancing oil production — is extremely essential.
