Shortcut

Hidden away on the first of Sector 29’s Brahmaputra market, Mrignayanee, which happens to be a Madhya Pradesh state emporium, houses saris, fabric for kurtas, dupattas, clutches, bed sheets, bed covers, lamp shades, swings and more.

What Makes It Awesome

For you to buy a sari. The cotton ones we found here start at about INR 560, and are especially perfect if you’re someone who wears saris every day. They also house chanderi and tussar saris, which are more expensive, naturally, but still within budget and with designs that you definitely don’t see every day.

Keep in mind that this store isn’t stocked to the brim, but if you dig deep enough, you may find something you like. We especially recommend checking out their kurta/salwar kameez material: There are a whole lot of beautiful gold-on-white and black-and-white designs, which would translate to great formal wear. They also keep readymade pieces of handloom fabric for Madhya Pradesh for those who don’t want the hassle of getting clothes stitched.

While you’re there, maybe pick up a swing. As we entered, we saw a whole bunch of jute swings and hammocks, that were just calling out to be hung on our balcony. Home décor enthusiasts will also find paintings and artisanal brass décor that you won’t wish to leave without.

What Could Be Better

We would love it if their gifting and décor section offered more variety.
