What Is It?

Visual imagery is the most powerful tool we have at our disposal that can truly create a sea of change in the minds and hearts of the people. And, to further the quest to make people aware of the critical changes brought on the by the human activities in the environment, National Geographic is organising a film-making competition, inviting budding photographers, storytellers, environmentalists and socially & environmentally conscious people to showcase these changes happening to our home – planet Earth.

The contest, running around the theme of preservation of our planet on the occasion of Earth Week,  will be judged by one of the most influential storytellers of our country- Farhan Akhtar!

Why Should I Participate?

It’s clear modernisation is taking a toll on nature. With more trash out on the roads, expansive slum areas and ineffective waste management systems, a little bit of a push in the right direction could help people make right choices. Have an idea on how to help and make this land greener with sustainable environmental growth? Document it! There is no denying that the power of a well-told story could do wonders. Even the smallest of ideas on water preservation, recycling of soil, or how to  curb pollution could lead to big changes – so shoot your revolutionary idea and share it with Nat Geo!

Who Is It For?

If you have a storyteller in you who’s looking for the right opportunity {read platform} to reach out to the world, this is your chance to shine! If you care even a bit about the environment, take some time out to share a story of change, something you’ve noticed could be done for the betterment of our motherland. Lights, Camera, Earth!

Anything Else?

National Geographic is giving us all a chance to share our ideas with them for the occasion of Earth Day, celebrated on April 22. Entries open on April 16 and will close on May 16, so you have ample time to think and produce that big idea of yours which will help National Geographic’s endeavour to inspire change and tell stories that matter.
And if you end up winning this, get ready for your movie to star on National Geographic this August; start scripting now!
