Calling all jewellery hoarders! If you're a sucker for unique earrings like me, then you should check out NEst by Arpit Agarwal's recently launched collection.
Most of us know how beautiful the Northeast is. A lot of us have experienced the picturesque and pristine beauty and the rich culture of the eight states first hand. NEst by Arpit Agarwal's collection celebrates exactly that - the tradition, art and cultural symbols of the Northeast.
Their latest collection of jewellery called Manuscript is utterly gorgeous. The range represents the motifs found in the Manuscript paintings that were popular in Assam during the 16th century. Inspired by the Hindu epics and puranas, these paintings were done on indigenous tree barks called xanchi using the traditional hengul-haitaal colours. The art community, along with artists from the Mughal courts, created these precious pieces of art, which now find reflection in the brand's exquisite earrings. Taru, Lota, Parijat, Kadambari, Nahor, Mohi, Pitambari - each piece is a work of art.
Also, browse through the Assam-Inspired jewellery range. We particularly loved the 'Kopou' earrings, named after the state flower of Assam. This orchid is considered to be a symbol of love and fertility and is used as a hair-ornament by Assamese women during weddings or folk dance performances. A third collection inspired by intricate tattoos of Nagaland's Konyak Tribe is also worth a dekko. These tattoos represent manifestations of their lives, be it birth, victory, transition, or status.
Their jewellery pieces are all made in 925 sterling silver with gold plating and ambellished with pearls and semi-precious stones.
