One more? Just when you think there are more microbreweries than a city could conceivably need, another one opens its doors. It might be time to examine what exactly we’re demanding that warrants this incessant supply.
Apparently, when it comes to beer consumption outside of home, we’re expecting a bit of craft. Rather than being a novelty, beer that has some technique and art at the heart of it is now a standard expectation. And so we welcome 7 Barrel Brewpub {referring to the gold, or amber, standard when it comes to brewing methodology,} which will start serving its house-brewed beers to waiting crowds, starting next weekend.
Come Saturday, pint glasses will runneth over with their selection of Wheat, Premium Lager, Red Amber and Dark Beer. More specialised varities are expected to be available soon after they’ve gotten into the flow of things.
White-washed exposed brick walls and comfortable couches feel like a familiar accompaniment to a retro & rock playlist – but hey, it’s worked in the past, and we’re sure there’s good reason. The barrel obsession continues in the lampshades and the rather tongue-in-cheek mural handpainted on the ceiling.
The food menu is appropriately snacky, never taking away from the focus on the drink. Expect all your favourite kababs that you inevitably seekh {ha!} after a few drinks, as well as more nuanced dishes like Chicken Lemongrass Skewers, Marinated Feta, Spinach & Cheese Crepes or Kolhapuri Lamb Chops. Main course options include Indian, Continental and Oriental – we’d of course settle for nothing less.
