Get Pedaling with the Noida Cycle Club

For Noida’s bold new cyclists, cycling is not just about fitness, but also about fun, food and bonding. With the membership growing fast, the Noida Cycling Club, popularly known as NCC, gets 50 new members every month. With more than 2000 members already part of NCC, it is fast catching up with other cycling clubs in the NCR region.

The NCC was founded by Aman Puri in April 2011. Since then, they have been conducting rides every weekend and motivating more people to start cycling. Any person who has travelled on the Yamuna Expressway early in the morning can tell you how they see a host of cyclists in throngs, zipping past their vehicles.

As for levels, and how to start cycling with them, NCC organizes beginners’ rides every Saturday for those looking for a casual ride. On Sundays, they organize longer rides that extend all the way up to India Gate and/or Terminal-3. The crew assembles at a pre-ordained spot, which is either GIP or Akshardham Metro Station, and rides or dies together. Joking about the dies. But they do ride together. They also have a prestigious rider of the month status, the celebration of which is held at different venues, decided by the crew.

To join, visit their closed group on facebook and fill in the membership form; you will also be able to stay updated on their  schedules.

To be able to ride with them, you will need to have some basic equipment in place, including a helmet and a spare tube. We advise you carry water {especially in this weather}, and some extra cash in case there are any unforeseen situations.

Before any of that though, you will need a cycle. For you Noidawaalas, Decathlon is your best bet.
