A bit of happy news for all the fussy eaters out there – you can now get food from chains like Domino’s, McDonald’s, and even KFC when travelling on inter-city trains.

Holy Moly!

As first reported by Hindustan Times here, the Indian Railways has now partnered with popular food chains like Alibaba, Haldirams, Domino’s, KFC, Neelam, Delhi Darbar, Chaayos, McD and more for an e-catering service.

As a service only available on Rajdhani and Shatabdi trains {as of now}, you can now choose not to eat the standard meal offered on trains, and opt for a double cheese pizza or chicken nuggets while traveling.

How, you ask, is this feat accomplished? There’s a rather easy-to-use website by the IRCTC where you can search whether your train has an option for this service. If it does {and there a few from Delhi that do}, then you select your food items, enter your PNR number and place your order.

A Happy Meal Indeed

This e-catering service is available at over 350 stations in India, and in Delhi, is presently available at New Delhi Railway Station, Delhi Cantt, Delhi S Rohilla and Delhi Shahdara.

The service is not only for the stations where the train originates, but also stop-overs and terminating stations. If you’re befuddled about how this would all work, check out a comprehensive list of FAQs here.

So, We're Saying...

Psyched as we are about having our pizza puff on the go, we’re still going to respond to the repeated chai calls by the vendors in the train with equal enthusiasm.
