Ten-Second Takeaway
The Oberoi Patisserie and Delicatessen starts preparing for Christmas a full three months in advance. The result? Cakes, cookies, puddings and bread containing dry fruit which have perfectly absorbed all the alcohol they've been swimming in.
Get Bread-y For Christmas
Chef Gagan and his team have been ready for Christmas since August! And it shows in their spread. The dry fruit are soaked in a mixture of whiskey, brandy and rum for three months straight. We headed down for some pre Christmas cheer and were not disappointed.
We started our sweet journey with Stollen- a German cake-like bread chock full of butter and dry fruit and just a hint of icing. We feel like we could eat this at any time of the day {and feel ourselves getting heavier}.
This was followed by a Christmas Tea Cake and a Christmas Pudding {yes there is a difference- the pudding is steamed and is way more moist}. We also took a few bites of the Vanilla Cookies {yum} and Gingerbread Cookies and ended with a steaming cup of delicious hot chocolate with a marshmallow
We love that cinnamon and nutmeg have been generously used across everything.
Chocolate In All Colours
One of the main attractions at the patisserie is their chocolates. They've even got a tiny 'chocolate room' where chefs are busy hand-rolling some really unique flavours. Of these, we loved the White Chocolate and Passion Fruit and the Bittersweet Spiced Truffle the most. Great gifts, these.
#LBBTip: In case you're wondering where to score a turkey for Christmas dinner at home, the guys here have you covered. They sell roasted turkey for INR 4,000 per kg. All you have to do is heat it and eat it.
PS: The Oberoi Gurgaon also delivers across Delhi and NCR.
