Taufiq’s Biryani & Paneer Ki Jalebi: Find All Of Old Delhi’s Epic Food At This 2-Day Fest

What Is It?

Old Delhi Food Festival is an attempt at bringing the city’s best culinary gems to a new, more accessible location. Now in its second edition, the fest’s organisers make several trips in search of vendors whose culinary inventions are par excellence but are still hidden in the narrowest of gullies.

Having zeroed in on 30 of them for this edition, they’re now getting them to the Old Delhi Food Festival at Ansal Plaza for two whole days.

Who Is It For?

Everyone who believes in the healing {yes, we know this is ironic} power of street food. We’re told that the focus will be on creating a more equitable spread of vegetarian and non-vegetarian food. So, both the parties will benefit from making a trip.

Why Should I Go For It?

You know how many times the Old Delhi plan has fallen through either because it’s too hot to hit the streets and eat all that korma or someone from the group is just not keen on making the trek.

This is why it’s just the opportunity to eat all the biryani, kebabs and meat without venturing too far into the labyrinth. You know what all you’ll be treated to exactly? Well, there’s Taufiq ki Biryani, Dora Kebab from Dil Pasand, Paneer ki Jalebi from Kallan Sweets and lots of chicken from Changezi.

The participants, as you’d have guessed, aren’t the usual suspects. Don’t judge yet. We really do love Karim’s but we’d rather explore the lesser-known names that have so far lived a life of obscurity. So, it’ll be a day of sampling a lot of authentic food that hardly makes it to the forefront.

In our closing argument, we’d like to point out that the debut run of the fest saw around 15,000 foodies devour everything at the India Islamic Centre and if anything, this version promises to be bigger and better {and more veg friendly}.

Anything Else?

Go eat the streets without going to the streets. We’ll meat you on the other side.

When: Nov 25 – 26

Where: Ansal Plaza
