A mother-daughter duo cooking up a storm with dishes from their cultural history, what could be better? I discovered them because of the season, certain weather needs a specific kind of food and if we’re talking about the cold then all I crave is mountain food. Introduced 2 years ago (where was I?!), Mood is a concept food service, offering homemade food delivered fresh and hot straight to your doorstep. The menus depended on what the ‘mom’ was in the ‘mood’ to make and the deliveries were over the weekend, so the menu actually changed every week.
The menu features dishes, they grew up eating in Darjeeling with no use of preservatives or MSG (not that I think that’s a bad thing, the MSG part!), the recipes came from their family’s heritage, mainly from ‘Mom’s’ nine siblings, which made a new menu every week very every possible. Apart from the weekly take away/curbside pick-up and home delivery service, they also hosted home experiences to commemorate special occasions (like Christmas, Easter, birthdays). These intimate sit-down dinner experiences would take place at their home in Vasant Vihar where guests would enjoy a thali style meal. The menu features loads of pork, from pork momos to momo meals and smoked pork meals that include tingmos and khapse, datchi and a spicy potato curry (aloo achar) I could live on! I loved the food because it was honest, home-style and fresh, probably the best momos I’ve had in a long time!
