Vediko is a community initiative pointed towards giving fair business opportunities to farmers. Vediko plans to become a connecting scaffold between consumers and farmers.
On visiting homesteads and meeting with farmers, we understood their two most significant issues, one being debt and the other being the utilization of harmful fertilizers & pesticides, because of the absence of all-organic consciousness of natural farming.
All Vediko products are made within a group of 100+ farmers. The majority of farmers have less awareness of soil mistreatment by chemically treated fertilizers and pesticides. Inflated input costs along with natural catastrophes have been the bane for farmers in the form of crippling debts. Farmers getting compelled to give more yield and the absence of infrastructure to spread awareness about organic farming has prompted more use of chemical manures and pesticides.
The team at Vediko, are working with more than 100 farmers across Northern India and attempting to help them financially more by using organic methods of farming. They teach them on how they can shift from conventional farming to organic farming and increment production and quality levels, thus helping them to accomplish productivity by making intrinsic value-added products. Also helping them to integrate various other practices like beekeeping and dairy farming in order to generate multiple sources of revenue within one farmland.
Hence, reducing the farmer's dependency on expensive synthetic pesticides, fertilizers, and minuscule shelf life for his/her fresh produce.
Apart from improving agriculture practices, they are also working towards women's employment and efficient waste management by making useful products out of farm waste.
Thus helping the farmers of Vediko in a multi-faceted way.
