I had never been to Himachal (I did when I was 17 but that doesn't count anymore) and when I decided to go and told everyone I was going to Parvati Valley (Kasol and Tosh area), majority said - we didn't know you were a stoner! Sadly this is reputation of this beautiful and cut off part of HP. If you're going to Kasol then you're definitely going to get high. I don't do that stuff and I wanted to prove to people that the Parvati Valley is not just for Stoners!
And I did just that. Yes you can get high if you want to but it's an equally good place to visit for those of you who like nature, going to offthebeaten track places and simple mountain living.
I had a great time. I stayed for 4 days and trekked to Khirganga, tosh and Malana. I hadn't trekked in a very long time so the trekking took its toll and I craved a firm foot massage a gazillion times during these treks. I didnt get no massage but the place I stayed at was an amazing resort which actually felt more like someone's bungalow and the food and service was outstanding.
Needless to say the khirganga was amazing and so were the hot springs. Tosh had brilliant views of the Himalayas and Malana was no doubt a strange but nice experience as their customs and culture is something I had never witnessed anywhere else.
You can reach Kasol by a private Ac coach bus from Delhi. It was nice and comfortable. The bus dropped me off right outside the resort I stayed in. Kasol town has multiple food options if you want to splurge. You can also stay in Tosh itself or even in camps outside of Malana village.
I can't wait to get back there in October when the area is lush green and the air is fresh and crisp with the right amount of sunshine and coolness!
If you want to know more about how to make this trip happen look at my blog post: http://www.totravelwith.com/2018/06/parvati-valley-not-just-for-stoners.html?utm_source=LBB&ref=lbbpost
