Phoolwalon ki Sair: Festival of Flower Sellers, Mehrauli Village

What's Happening

Cheer up because something very exciting is coming up! The Phoolwalon Ki Sair or The Festival Of Flower Sellers is taking place in Mehrauli on 19th October starting at 8:30 AM where Delhi Heritage Walks is conducting a heritage walk and we obviously can't keep calm. It's a traditional fair that takes place once a year and this walk will share stories behind the festival, about the Dargah of Qutub Sahib, and the political turmoil in the Mughal Dynasty. 

They will also take you through some of the major landmarks situated in the Mehrauli village namely, Khanqah of Eunuchs, a pleasure palace of the Mughals, a grave where Prophet Muhammad left a mark, a step well where the water smells of Sulphur, and much more. 

You will be covering a distance of around 2.5 kms and the walk will take around three hours. 

How's The Venue

The meeting point for this walk is the entrance gate to Yogmaya Temple, near Mehrauli Bus Terminus. You will be able to park your vehicle opposite the temple. Or, if you are coming via the metro, the nearest metro station is Saket located on the yellow line. 

Pro-Tip

A few pointers to be kept in mind:

- Make sure to register for the event beforehand. The payment will be made in cash when you reach for the walk.

- The walk will end at Jharna which is at the other end of the Mehrauli village so, if you are coming by your own vehicle, be prepared to walk back to the starting point. If you are travelling via the metro, you can take the exit near Chhatarpur metro station and then, you'll be able to find public transport. 

- Please avoid wearing shorts and carry a scarf/cap to cover your head while entering religious places.

- The walk will be conducted in Hindi. 

- The same walk is also taking place on 20th so, you can visit on either of the days.
