Hummus And Romance: Pick Baris For Your Next Impromptu Date

Baris is a Turkish word that ​means peace. And this place lives up to its name.

If you’re here with your loved one, you should go up to the terrace to sit there. The terrace has very romantic and intimate seating. I found the rooftop to be just lovely.

If you want the fine dining experience, then sit on the first floor. The beautifully done interiors are a perfectly blend of Turkish architecture with blue coloured floral patterns, arabesque windows, arches, a luminous chandelier and gorgeous seating.

I started things off with a palate cleanser made of beetroot, which is so good that I had way more than one.

Then I tried the cigar bourek, which is a helping of crispy cigar rolls with feta cheese, caramelised onions and parsley. This was perfectly made.

If you are a hummus lover, then the hummus bin dulaj one is going to be your favourite starter. The hummus is served with roasted chickpeas and garlic coulis and pine nuts, along with a side of Turkish breads.

For the main course, we ordered Kuzu Incik. This one was recommended by my friends as well as by the owner of Baris. Honestly, if you love lamb, this one would be your favourite dish..

The dish is beautifully presented and the​ meat just melts off. It's not flavoured with too many spices, but has been slow-cooked and is very tasty.

For dessert, we opted for the baklava duo, which definitely merits repeat ordering.
