As reported by the Economic Times in this article, the iconic Pragati Maidan is set to be revamped this year.
With a budget of INR 2,000 crores, expect wholesale changes. Plans include razing of entire buildings to make space for new structures including a huge new convention hall, more exhibition halls, underground parking {there needs to be more of this in the city!} and all-new access roads leading to the property.
There are even plans {don't hold your breath} to improve the nearby intersection between Mathura Road and Bhairon Road. However since this would require government clearance, it is not linked to the main project.
Phase I of the reconstruction project is set to last for 36 months, but traders needn't worry, the trade fair will continue being held in a temporary space.
