One of the biggest moments of your life deserves an exceptional memory, it’s not just the right time that you have to think about while proposing but also the right atmosphere and just the right spot. It need not be an extravagant affair but a significant spot that the two of you connect with the most as it will be quite a historic moment, either way the proposal goes. We are here to save you from all the research that you would otherwise have to put into finding the perfect spot in the city of Love, your own Dilli.

Abdur Rahim Khan-i-Khanan's Tomb

Forget the Taj Mahal, have you heard about this monument of love in Dilli? Even before Shah Jahan built the Taj Mahal, Abdul Rahim Khan-e-Khanan, a poet and one of the nine gems of Akbar’s court, built this tomb lovingly for his wife. So, skip the cliché proposal at the Taj Mahal and do it at the fort of love, lesser known for it will be #hatke and will add all the more meaning to your day.

Pros: It’s a lesser-known monument and its significance is not as profoundly known so you will be one of the few people to have popped up the big question. The monument looks breathtaking at night so you can get gazillion pictures.

Cons: It’s a lesser-known monument so it might get oddly silent, and since there will be fewer people chances are those who are there will gaze at your moment, or not.

Minar of Jama Masjid

Jama Masjid for a proposal, sounds too intense right? We are aware that it might seem like that in the beginning but hear us out. The historic mosque of Purani Dilli opens up at 7 AM and is the most peaceful and less crowded around the same time if you get there on time and climb up the minar of Jama Masjid which has an entry fee of INR 50, go on top of the minar from where you can see the city of Shahjahanabad and the iconic Lal Qila which is the most refreshing and picture-perfect spots in Delhi, after climbing the top catch a breath and pop the question while the entire city looks irrelevant.

Pros: If it’s a Yes it can just be a Qubool Hai moment. You will love the view even more and every step to reach the top would be worth it. Not just that, it would be a moment to jot down in memory lane for it would be a unique experience.

Cons: If it’s a No, climbing down the stairs would be quite awkward and you might just regret climbing all those steep stairs. Also, you need to be mindful of the crowd who might get a little awkward around the proposal, so will have to keep it very low-key and celebrate the remaining moment outside the premise.

Okhla Bird Sanctuary

If you two are people who enjoy and truly cherish nature then there is no better place to ask THE question but amidst birds and greenery. What better place to go to than the Bird Sanctuary which is known to be a haven for over 300 bird species. You can do a mini set-up after taking the required permission and pop the big question, it would be both memorable and picture-perfect.

Pros: If it’s a Yes, there is nothing better than serene nature. Not only would it be the most cherished memory but also be extremely thoughtful.

Cons: If it’s a No, your partner might just abandon you in the deep forest with over 300 birds.

Agrasen Ki Baoli

Tucked away at a hidden spot in the middle of Central Delhi’s concrete jungle is Agrasen Ki Baoli. It might be slightly hard to find, but once you enter the gate of the monument, which opens at 9 AM, you would have left behind the chaos of Delhi miles away. The monument has garnered attention especially since a few movies were shot at the site. However, it’s one of those spots where people come for sheer silence and which is exactly why it can be the perfect spot to hit the big question for a low-key yet memorable experience.

Pros: If it’s a Yes, the steps of Agrasen Ki Baoli would act like the perfect background for that engagement picture.

Cons: If it’s a No, then Agrasen Ki Baoli might feel all the more haunting with dead silence and you got to be careful with those stairs, just saying!

Ottimo At Westview

If you want to pop, ‘will you marry me,’ over a hearty romantic meal then we would recommend you to head to Ottimo at Westview, ITC Maurya for its gorgeous rooftop space which has a beautiful view and would certainly impress your partner. The place is perfect for a romantic and classy proposal.

Pros: It will check your partners dream of a classy proposal with the perfect space and you can get it all glammed up for the proposal and book out the rooftop for privacy.

Hauz Khas Social Rooftop

We know Social at Hauz Khas is too mainstream at this point. Chhatt (terrace) of Social is adjacent to the fort ruins and gives you a breathtaking view of the entire lake and fort. For the sheer view, we vouch for this spot. You can book out the entire space for privacy.

Pros: The view is breathtaking and is low-key the only spot with water in the background (let’s not count the Yamuna bridge as a picturesque background). You will love the fact that you are asking the question with a gorgeous background.

Cons: Social at Hauz Khas attracts too many college students and a young crowd so it can get a little too casual for a proposal.

Hamoni by the Greens

If the two of you love sports and would love to have a proposal over the golf course, we’d recommend you head to Hamoni by the Greens.  It’s a quaint cafe tucked into a corner with a huge lush green area. The menu, though limited, offers some standard brunch and breakfast options. So, you can mislead your partner into going in for a golf session and when they are having a gala time, kneel down and ask them out.

Pros: It’s an unusual and fun way to propose, you can be a little extra and get the golf ball customised into your ring box (just giving you ideas.)

Cons: Since it’s located at a quaint spot in Gurgaon, reaching here might take forever and if you have an impatient partner, we are rooting for your soul.

QLA

If you want to skip the Qutub complex and want to instead propose over a meal with of course the view of Qutub Minar in the background then QLA is one of the most romantic restaurants in town and is perfect for that special moment. You can pop the question on their rooftop too after of course taking permission. You can also check out these restaurants for a perfect Qutub Minar.

Pros: You can not go wrong with Qutub Minar in the background either way the answer goes, just take a selfie or two to ensure your gram is fed no matter what.

Cons: You might be the 100th person proposing at the same spot.

Humayun’s Tomb

Located in Nizammudin, Humayun’s Tomb is a grand (and very well-maintained) sandstone mausoleum that’s pretty as a picture and is one of Delhi’s most popular spots for sightseeing and photography. We think this is a safe and precious place to spill the question.

Pros: You will get gorgeous pictures and would be an iconic spot to hit the question.

Cons: There would be a bunch of people at all times so they might photo-bomb again and again. Since it is a crowded monument you will be the center of a lot of attention.

Gumbad Café, Jama Masjid

If you two are core romantics and would love to get the Gumbad (tomb) of Jama Masjid in your background then you can head to Gumbad Café which is famously known as a mini-Turkey or mini-Dubai for its view of the masjid which is upclose and personal and not just that they’ve got some interesting food too. This turns out to be the ‘it’ spot of Delhi, lately. If you get lucky and can book out the entire place for a few hours, there is nothing like it. The view is incredible and has everything you need for your moment.

Pros: The view is just too beautiful and we are sure your partner would be mesmerized by it, especially if they are a die-hard romantic.

Cons: It might be difficult to get bookings here since the place is jam-packed with reel enthusiasts.
