What Is It?
Who Is It For?
If you’re intrigued by Urdu literature, believe that not enough has been discussed about the same and if paper presentations and talks by renowned academicians like Fauzia Farooqui {professor in South Asian language and literature at Princeton University} and Associate Editor of NDTV Nagma Sahar are the kind of things you’d look forward to, this festival is for you.
Why Should I Go For It?
Because you can attend a series of interesting panel discussions and talks by experts in the field of literature. Anjum Hasan {Books Editor at Caravan Magazine}, R Sivapriya {Executive Editor, Juggernaut Books India}, Sohail Hashmi {historian and filmmaker, well -known for his Delhi Heritage Walks} and Anisur Rahman {Senior Advisor at Rekhta Foundation} are some of the many speakers whose seminars you can look forward to.
While the idea of this festival is to celebrate Urdu literature and in fact, all of Indian literature over the last two centuries, you’ll get your dose of Urdu art and culture too. We’re particularly excited about the qawwali performance by the famous Sabri brothers of the Jaipur gharana. Some other events include dastan recitation by Mahmood Farooqui, a ghazal evening by Dr. Radhika Chopra and a play on Sir Iqbal by Dr. M. Sayeed Alam.
Oh, and the entry is free, so that’s all the more reason to go.
