Rani Pink's New Collection Is A Marriage Of Paris, Jaipur & Eras Gone By

This autumn/winter, Rani Pink ups the ante with the romance of an era that encompasses love and poetry with a whole lot of gota and tulle thrown in. There’s also lots of inspiration from Umrao and Mirza, infused with just a touch of Paris.

The first of the three themes is Paris in Jaipur—a beautiful mehndi look, ideal for daytime functions set in Jaipur infusing Parisian elements. It’s all about quirky colours blended with Jaipur geometric patterns and prints.

The reception/cocktail showcase is Chand Mahal and it is inspired by the Mughal era. This set-up is all about intricate patterns and jaalis detailed with mirror mosaic work creating mystic grandeur.

Umrao & Mirza is the wedding look, inspired by the love story of emperor Jehangir and his beloved wife, Noor Jahan. This look showcases the balance of strength and beauty with old crystal jhoomars, lotus platters filled with jasmine and gold cutwork jaalis.

Fantasy, the sangeet/reception look is inspired by the old vintage glamour of the 1920s which sets the mood for this dramatic set-up. Tapering candles and stunning white hydrangeas in exquisite silver vases set the tone for a truly glamorous affair.

They’re heavy on lotus thalis and urlis with flowing mogras, Mughal art and architecture, floral jharokas, mogra swings and Mughal butahs. Look-book themes include Summer Blossoms, a mehendi look on a typical Indian courtyard but with a Rani Pink touch to it.

Accentuated by life-sized trees inspired by Japanese cherry blossoms, each shade has been hand-dyed and over 600 stems are used in every tree, ­ all handcrafted from scratch. Expect fun and quirky shades of coral and turquoise with pops of neon pink in between.
