Remember Chonas In Khan Market? This Pocket-Friendly Bar Is Re-Opening Near Chattarpur

Although our memories of drinking scenes at Chonas are a bit foggy, we do remember that an evening at this budget bar in Khan Market always meant a good time. Heartbroken when it closed down, we’re happy to tell you that it’s set to reopen on Aurobindo Marg!

It’s been a few years since Chonas shut shop and, consequently, chilling at Khan Market has become a pricier affair for loyalists of this watering hole. They offered some great deals on IMFL and beer, every now and then, but you could score Old Monk for INR 180 any day of the week. An-almost 2 L pitcher of any of their cocktails was about INR 1,800 while a pint of beer would set you back by INR 200. Like most of our favourite bars in the city, Chonas’ food menu was just the right mix of Chinese and Indian dishes. Chilli Chicken, Dal Tadka, Butter Chicken or Hakka Noodles, it was all there.

While we don’t know whether they’re retaining the old {and familiar menu}, we did spot a BBQ Takeaway Counter at their new outlet. En route Gurgaon, just before you hit MG Road, the big, red Chonas sign demarcates the spot of their new restaurant. The terrace seating looks promising and, given that winter is coming, we can’t wait to keep warm with pegs of rum while enjoying a stellar view of the city.
