The infamous ‘Liquor Ban of 2017’ left both happy-hour-regulars and pub owners in Gurgaon high and dry. About 24 days ago, the SC ruled that the judgement prohibiting the sale of alcohol within 500 metres of state and national highways included restaurants and pubs as well. Cyber Hub became a ghost town, half of Sector 29’s restaurants had to stop pouring the freshly-brewed beer they were so proud of and even hotels weren’t exempt from the SC’s order.
But there was a loophole – instead of the straight distance from highways to establishments, it was the motorable distance that mattered. Luckily for Sector 29’s impacted restaurants, distances were measured again {this time motorable} and 30 establishments have now been given the green light to start serving alcohol again.
Which ones, you ask? Prankster is now serving their quirky, crazy cocktails that caused quite a stir when the restaurant opened. Batli 29 gets its liquor license back, as do Adda by Striker, Factory by Sutra, Walking Street by Soi7 and The Flying Saucer Café.
The best news, however, is that Cyber Hub might be restored to its former glory if it is, in fact, motorable distance that counts. We’ll update this post as soon as we get a confirmation.
