We hopped on over to Isaac Luxe in Vasant Vihar to talk to Dr. Geetika Mittal for all the questions we had about the magic, anti-ageing ingredient — retinol. When should you start using it, and how you should add it to your skincare, watch the video to find out. Of course, since we're a little over five years old, this information was verified by an actual (almost) five-year old - Nitara Vasudeva, who isn't an easy audience, if you ask us.
Explain It Like I'm 5: A Fool-proof Guide To Adding Retinol To Your Skincare
Rule 1: Doctor's Supervision Is Important
Retinol needs to be taken in controlled amounts and with compatible ingredients and skincare products only. Make sure you consult a dermatologist before adding it to your skincare routine.
Rule 2: Hydrate Your Skin
Make sure you hydrate your skin well after using retinol at night.
Rule 3: Sunscreen!
Make sure to use sunscreen the morning after you use retinol. Retinol can leave the skin feeling a little sensitive, so make sure you protect it from potential sun damage.
Rule 4: Active Ingredients
Don't combine retinol with Vitamin C as it can cause more harm than good to your skin, and leave it irritated.
Rule 5: Be Regular
You can start using retinol in small quantities ( a little goes a long way), but you have to be regular. Say if you start with twice a week, make sure to follow that regime.
