Royal Tiger Resort In Tadoba Is The Closest You'll Get To Living With Tigers

Shortcut

Right on the fringes of the Tadoba Tiger Reserve, we love this resort as it’s eco-friendly, homely and really lets you connect with nature, minus the drama.

In Reserve

Literally a stone’s throw from the entrance to the Tadoba Tiger Reserve, this resort neatly slots itself into the empty space between super expensive, luxury hotels and budget lodges. With great prices, and a location like none other, we call this our little home away from home.

Designed like a massive house with cottages surrounding it, a lawn and kids play area dominates the entrance. Once you walk in {and have wiped yourself down with a cold towel}, you’ll notice that the guests linger around chatting, sharing tiger stories and having a good ol’ time: Something that rarely happens in the more snazzy resorts.

Check into their simply styled rooms, but don’t expect luxury.

Home Away

There are two deluxe suites, eight deluxe rooms {named after animals found in the reserve} and a few standard rooms. The standard ones are very basic, bordering on stark. But when tigers are the main draw, you’re unlikely to care about décor, yes? The other two types of accommodation are like B&B rooms – with cutesy cabinets, a desk space and neat bathrooms. Of course, all rooms are air-conditioned to help you survive the 45 degree summers.

Jungle Life

Going off on a jungle safari should be your primary mission when here. Morning ones kick off at 6am and you return in time for a 10am brekkie, while the afternoon ones start at 3pm and end at sunset. The hotel is associated with the reserve, making it easier to get in, but advance booking is essential.

Once you return, hopefully having spotted the majestic striped beast, they have a large selection of films to watch. Cosy up with friends or family and watch any movie of your choice. Pack off the kids to the outdoor play area if you want some down time.

#LBBTip

Remember that the reserve is closed on Tuesdays, so plan your trip accordingly.
