Rukmini Ray Kadam seems to us like the person who manages to do it all, she's the founder Trumatter, her own decor and lifestyle blog that talks about decor and design at large, and also has written for publications like Vogue, India Today and many more. She has won more than 10 awards, including Asian Paints Influencer awards, Blogadda Bloggers award and BetterHomesandGardens Blogger awards, so we do believe what she's talking about. Knowing so much about the field we only thought it would be fit to ask her her top homegrown home decor brands!
A Few Of Rukmini's Favourite Home Decor Brands
Saphed
Rukmini has been using bedding from Saphed for a while now and vouches for the quality of their products. She mentions that the linen just keeps getting better with every wash. She suggests choosing Saphed, especially if you're looking for beautiful solid colours that will live years with you.
Live Linen
Rukmini's most recent discovery is Live Linen, she found the brand while searching for striped linens, which she says is quite hard to find in India. She says, 'the quality is exceptional, so soft on the skin and their designs, prints and trims all are very global.'
Be Vintage
Rukmini says that her design aesthetic leans towards the traditional side when it comes to furniture, and Be Vintage is where she often finds herself buying her furniture from here. She clarifies that her definition of traditional isn't exactly Indian traditional though, it's more of colonial or old English style, and Be Vintage does exactly that. She loves the tables here, from the table legs to the smallest details on them, and believes furniture from here is heirloom furniture!
Sunshine Boulevard
When it comes to lighting, Sunshine Boulevard is one brand that is Rukmini's go-to. It's a Bangalore-based brand that has beautiful vintage lighting. She says, 'I always go to Sunshine Boulevard for lighting, their entire collection is of beautiful vintage-looking items.' The brand offers a lot more than just lighting, from home accessories to furniture, if you're someone who loves the vintage aesthetic.
Home Neera
Rukmini loves Home Neera if you're looking for flat weave rugs, also known as dhurries. 'Spearheaded by a woman, Home Neera is doing wonderful stuff with Dhurries,' says Rukmini. Dhurries are a versatile textile that can be used as a floor covering, wall hanging or sometimes as bedding. They have good ethnic options as well as more classic country-style options, which is quite difficult to find in India.
Mirzia
Another brand Rukmini has recently come across is Mirzia, and she says that this is a great brand for Persian carpets. Mirzia is a luxury carpet brand that does rugs inspired by traditional Persian rugs of the sixteenth and seventeenth century. Rukmini says that she has placed order very recently, and her experience till now has been extremely good.
Daisy Life
Rukmini trusts Daisy Life when it comes to any kind of wicker and willow furniture. They bring the craft straight from local artisans in the Northeast. Rukmini has purchased a wicker home for her cats and they love them to bits. Daisy Life offers quite a bit as well, from bread and fruit baskets to planters and multipurpose boxes, but their collection is not only limited to wicker and willow; they also have an entire offering of personal care, bags, curtains and other home accessories.
