Shortcut

The days are gone when you had to go to a multi-cuisine restaurant or a state bhawan to experience authentic regional cuisine; now yummy, flavourful meals from all over India can be home-delivered with a single phone call. If you stay in Gurgaon, you can sample Kashmiri Pandit cuisine, cooked home-style, from Safapore – an all-new delivery joint in town.

The Streets of Safapore

Sabhapore, as Kashmiri legend has it, was a place where people congregated and it was believed to be a serene spot by a lake. The family that runs the brand was intrigued by this story and decided to morph the name into ‘Safapore’ as a tribute to the native culture. The menu consists of traditional Kashmiri dishes, made with recipes inherited from grandmothers, and stands as a testament to the fact that food made with love and a dash of history is always delicious.

We suggest you start with the ‘Kabargah’ which is essentially mutton ribs, that have beeb slow-cooked in milk, and then fried to golden perfection.

All Things Great & Small

The menu is small but does ample justice to Kashmiri Pandit cuisine. Made with loads of aromatic spices, you can be sure this will be a meal to remember. Meat lovers can choose from Rogan Josh or Lal Masch {the Rogan Josh is deeply flavourful, while the Lal Masch is nice and spicy!}. However, the star of our meal was the Masch Yakhni – these meatballs, cooked with cinnamon, are low on spice but high on flavour.

Vegetarians needn’t despair – choose the Peela Paneer for a delicious, dairy fix. It’s basically cubes of cottage cheese cooked in spices and milk and, surprisingly, this dish is quite light. We highly recommend ordering the Tsok Wangun or khatte baingan – aubergines sourced from Kashmir are cooked in a spicy, tangy gravy. Pair your meal with steamed white rice to maximise your culinary experience and thank us later!

So We’re Saying...

Try something new and honour a labour of love. Though Safapore delivers over the weekends, if you order a day in advance, you have enjoy these dishes any day of the week.

P.S. The dishes can be ordered in both half and 1 kg packs.
