Perhaps the best-known landmark in Paharganj, Sam’s Cafe, aka bar, has been a popular destination amongst both expats and locals for years. The spacious terrace is a good spot to get some sunshine and some drinks.

Roof with a view
The best thing about Sam’s Cafe is hands down the rooftop. Five storeys high {don’t worry, there’s an elevator}, the terrace is spacious and done up nicely with pebbles, sun umbrellas and nice enough seating. We’d recommend sitting closer to the wall so you can take in the view of all of Paharganj in its vibrancy.
They do the basic cocktails {mojitos, LIITs, Screwdriver} and generally have a good stock of beer. They also do a beautiful strong cold coffee.
Falafel out loud
Sam’s Cafe isn’t the best place for a full meal, but if you’re looking for something to munch on alongside your drinks, the Falafel is your best bet. If the crispy chickpea balls don’t do it for you, there’s always Schnitzel {we hear it tastes best with raindrops and roses}.
They also have a whole range of Indian curries and breads, but we suggest sticking to the starters or pizza {the Al Pollo is a winner}.
All in all, Sam’s Cafe is worth a visit for the chill ambience and a round of drinks. For food, preferably go elsewhere. Dhanyavad Restaurant for sushi, perhaps?

We’d suggest staying away from the Banana Pancakes here; we found them to be a glamourised version of the roti.
