Shortcut

Away from the insane traffic and the maddening Gurgaon crowd, Sandy’s Cocktails & Kitchen is situated at a quieter spot behind Westin hotel {which is such a relief}. The space is designed well, the menu comes from years’ worth of curation and the drinks are just the best {hic}.

Winning For

Made to be a place where one can kick back, order a drink and just have an amazing time, Sandy’s is all about the experience. The menu here has been curated by Sandeep Verma and his wife from their travel experiences around the world, and the result is definitely worth all the effort.

Learn Some, Chill Some

Bartending school by day, the chill New Orleans style vibe by night, the very concept of Sandy’s is based around taking people away from the generic loud party-sharty kinda scenes, and giving them a place with good music—somewhere one can actually have a conversation.

The place is divided into three areas; the garden outside is large and perfectly lit up for your #datenightgoals, housing the herb garden which the restaurant sources all its ingredients from. The inside area has been divided into two parts; a basement area for live performances {it has a killer drum set, graffiti, a bar and lighting with the perfect New Orleans vibe} and the upper floor, done up by Sandy himself, which is a mix of his photography and good music.

Sandy’s also hosts various special nights catering to poets, writers, artists, musicians and pretty much all the other kind of creatives that you can think of. The owners are passionate about creating an experience rather than just a watering hole {which Gurgaon is already full of}. One can also do a crash course in bartending here; all you’ve to pay is the price of the drinks you’re making.

Pitter Patter What’s On Your Platter

It had drizzled a bit right before we reached Sandy’s, which is why we chose the outdoor dining area. We ordered salt & pepper prawns, Last Tango in Modena {a mix of tequila, spiced bell peppers, passion fruit puree, basil leaves and lime}, and a Cheeky Negroni {gin, Aperol and elderflower nectar} on the owner’s recommendation, and were floored by the tango all of them did on our taste buds.

A good bar is only as good as their Old Fashioned or Whiskey Sour, and we were impressed when both of those not only delivered on taste, but also got us a happy high. Next up, we tried the Pappardelle Alla Lamb Ragout and Sous-Vide of Pork Belly; the pappardelle was well cooked and the lamb packed a rich flavour {thanks to the porcini dust}. Mixing a tough cut like pork with the sous vide method is probably the best thing that this place does; the pork is crispy yet tender and packed with flavours. This one is definitely our top pick for you from here.

So, We’re Thinking…

This isn’t your crazy party-scene kind of area, but it sure will be your favourite once you give it a shot. The service is great, there is so much to do and experience, and the menu is bound to bowl you over. Head to Sandy’s for your next plan and we can assure you you’d love it.
