What Is It?

The Saree Festival hopes to bring together various voices and ideas around the saree, in a multidisciplinary approach to celebrate the wondrous drapes. The festival comprises a mela, an exhibition, and sale of diverse sarees, numerous saree-inspired events and a really great styling workshop by Red Earth.

Who Is It For?

For anyone who is interested in Odisha tribal weaves {Galang Gabaan}, festive sarees by Kyra, reinterpreted Odisha blouses by Pankaja, Assamese sarees and mekhala chadars by Pariah, Pratham’s printed linen, natural dyed block prints from Resha by Medhavini, and heritage Bengali weaves by Slice of Bengal and Svang.

There will also be jewellery from Turquoise by Nanu Puri {precious and semi-precious jewels}.

Why Should I Go For It?

If you want to see a diverse range of beautiful sarees from all over India, and maybe pick up a few as gifts for your wife, girlfriend or mother. Other events lined up include a performance by Anuja Ghosalkar {Lady Anandi}, a film called The Amorous Adventures of Shakku and Megha in the Valley of Consent, and Saree Sutra: Exploring the saree through dance by Rasa Theory.

The workshops and performances in the Saree ka Gunijan Khana will include a saree draping and styling workshop on Apr 14 that you will have to register and pay for {INR 2,000}. You can email them for the same.
