A Seaplane From Delhi To Agra? It's Coming Soon!

The information in this post might be outdated

Well, after a direct train, flight, expressway and a hop and a skip, this was obviously the next thing we should have predicted. It seems that the central government is planning a pretty fabulous seaplane trip between Delhi and Agra via the river Yamuna.

According to this article, this is an important milestone in the maritime history of the country. Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari said, “The 'fly boat' project will start in the next three months. We have also been in discussions with the Airport Authority of India {AAI} in order to frame rules and regulations needed to introduce seaplanes on this route”.

Right after the Indian Waterways Bill has been passed, this news is blowing our minds; we're also looking forward to the 106 other inland waterways in the country. And you know what else is coming? Sea buses and hovercrafts.

The article also reports that “The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways will make sure that the dredging work is done properly so that the required water levels are maintained at all times.” Say hello to Canadian and Russian seaplanes at a river near you.
