Even though our love affair with Freakin Beans is still going strong, we found a distraction in the form of The Delhi Munchery. This neighbour eatery has a sizzling BBQ, dishing out hot rolls and tikkas to everyone who loves the Delhi chill {or winter sun} along with some good ol’ comfort food.

Soya So Good

We’re suckers for outdoor spaces and this one comes with cute fairy lights and friendly dogs who come and perch on top of your feet, keeping ’em toes as warm as your soul. The place is only two-months-old but has had people going back to their Butter Chicken Roll and Chicken Nihari with Khameeri Roti.

On our last visit, we ordered a Nizami Soya Chaap Roll that was loved by vegetarians and meat-eaters alike for its perfect, buttery chunks of soya accompanied by fresh pudina chutney to offset the spice. We also tasted the shawarma roll that costs INR 60 and it was quite the star for its tender chicken and mayo combination. The folks at home loved the chicken seekh and chicken tikka rolls we packed for them and admitted that the versions were enough to satiate mid-meal snack cravings, without sending them on a guilt trip. The fact that the rolls weren’t overwhelming and tasted great {despite having sat in the car for half an hour} were, of course, major factors.

Our Mayur Vihar friend also raves about the Roasted Chicken Afghani, but suggests not ordering if you’re with your date {or don’t like getting your cold hands dirty} because things can get messy with this one.

All said, the portions at this newbie aren’t ginormous, but for the price, they aren’t a bad deal – their shawarma burger, for instance, will set you back by only INR 80.

So, We're Saying...

There’s a small indoor area that’s pretty decently done up as well. Oh, and we figured that the Munchery folks are pretty open to letting you get your Freakin Beans’ coffee, or ordering lemon/ginger chai from FitYard right next door.

P.S. They open around 4pm, so make sure you don’t turn up ahead of time.
