Pottery Barn made it to the headlines when it debuted in India in the monsoon of 2022. Its popularity in our country is thanks to its effortless aesthetics, with its line of modern, mid-century and minimal home collections. While its original designs, high-quality, sustainable and stylish products make it worth its price range (INR 1,80,000 and upwards for an upholstered 2-seater sofa, INR 30,000 for a cotton bed quilt, and INR 5,000 for a terra cotta vase, you get the drift?), we're here to lay out your options.

With aesthetics being the key quality, we've picked home brands in India that either have a wider collection or are affordable and similar to Pottery Barn. Across categories like furniture, functional home decor, textiles and lighting that are available at this US brand, this list will let you find your match of good-looking and quality products to build your home.

West Elm: For Mid-Century Modern Furniture

West Elm

West Elm

Owned by Williams-Sonoma (who also owns Pottery Barn), West Elm has been an Indian interior designer's favourite for a long time. Coming from the same parent company, West Elm pieces are similar to those from Pottery Barn. At West Elm you'll find their collections to be super mid-century modern and more options across all categories in India. The furniture has clean, minimal lines and comes in neutral colours, just like at Pottery Barn.

Collection: Mid-century and Anton indoor and outdoor furniture, bedding, bath, decor, kitchen and dining, lighting and rugs.

Price: Furniture collection starts at INR 80,000 and upwards. The home decor collection starts at INR 1,100 and upwards.

Durian: For Premium Furniture At Reasonable Prices

We're referring to Durian as a decked-out version of Pottery Barn. The collection is minimal but overstuffed for extra comfort. Like Pottery Barn, the furniture has an aesthetic that is very easy to like. Ranging from modern leather to vintage, Durior has an all-encompassing range of home products. From minimal mid-century to a chic vintage collection, Durian is a go-to for Indian homes (especially with the current sale going on).

Collection: Furniture for the living room, bedroom, dining, office and work from home, and decor.

Price: Furniture collection starts at INR 40,000 and upwards.

Gulmohar Lane: For Stunning Handcrafted Furniture

Gulmohar Lane

Gulmohar Lane

Gulmohar Lane is the perfect balance of neutrals and colours. Like Pottery Barn, the furniture has light details that make it minimal, yet the upholstery gives it a rich look. We found the use of pastel hues to be a popular choice at both the brands. However, Gulmohar Lane is known to add freshness because everything is handcrafted. This gives an artistic approach to modern interiors. Like Pottery Barn, Gulmohar Lane balances natural materials and contemporary design for a sustainable home. What we love most about Gulmohar Lane is its exquisite collection of rattan furniture.

Collection: Furniture for the living room, bedroom, dining, decor, rugs, lighting and much more.

Price: Furniture collection starts at INR 40,000 and upwards.

The Decor Remedy: For High-End Accent Furniture & Decor

Glass, metal and wood are the three main materials used by both The Decor Remedy and Pottery Barn. We found some very aesthetic gold metal and marble tables. Also, the planters, candle holders, wall decor, and tabletop accents from The Decor Remedy mostly come in solid colour themes, just like Pottery Barn. What we loved most about their collection is that it is the perfect range to add zest to your neutral or earthy-themed space.

Collection: Furniture for the living room, bedroom, dining, decor, rugs, lighting and much more.

Price: Accent furniture starts at INR 7,500 and upwards. Home decor starts at INR 999 and upwards.

Pure Home + Living: For Pastel Bedding & Minimal Bath

Pure Home + Living

Pure Home + Living is one of my favourite and one of the most aesthetic accessible brand (price wise). Like Pottery Barn, the pieces are simple yet sophisticated. We found cosy quilts in soft shades that are similar to those at Pottery Barn. The home decor range has glass and wicker pieces that will complement your modern mid-century home. We also found some neutral bath towels that are like those from Pottery Barn.

Collection: Quilts, cushion covers, bath essentials, serve ware, dinner ware and more.

Price: Accent furniture starts at INR 7,500 and upwards. Home decor starts at INR 999 and upwards.

Hollyhock: For Minimal Decor In Natural Materials

Hollyhock

Hollyhock is by far my favourite brand to splurge on bohemian decor. Similar to Pottery Barn, the decor is available in natural materials like terra cotta and stone. Apart from being eco-friendly, the brand even has vases, metal wall decor and cane baskets similar to Pottery Barn's. Hollyhock is priced much lower and the pieces are as chic-looking. It's definitely a brand you must invest in if you're going for a boho-rustic vibe.

Collection: Wall decor, table top accents, vases, planters, candle holders, organisers, cups and cutlery.

Price: Home decor starts at INR 449 and upwards.

IKEA: For Everything Minimal & Affordable

What's a classic put-together home brand doing as an alternative to a custom-built home brand? If you're thinking this, hear me out! While IKEA is known to have easy styles that are subtle and likeable, we cannot deny that they do look super aesthetic. So, as a person on a budget who's building their first home, IKEA is a great option to get a Pottery Barn kind of look. Minimal, modern, and monotone—these are all the traits we've found to be similar in both brands. Be it furniture, home decor or knick-knacks, we're sure IKEA is where you can build your dream space within a reasonable budget.

Collection: Furniture, textiles, decor, lighting and smart home products.

Price: Furniture collection starts at INR 19,990 and upwards. Home decor starts at INR 299 and upwards.
