Bottega Veneta really (re)kicked off this 1930s trend in 2019, but you know that runway trends become a street trend only a few years later right? So, here we are in 2022 with this style hitting almost all homegrown and high street shoe brands again! But to stay on top of this one, we recommend getting square-toe loafers instead of your usual square-toe heels. Martine Rose, Tory Burch, Prada, Jil Sander did these on the designer level, so shop there if you and your bank balance want to. If not, here are a few more relatively affordable options - from Steven Madden and Aldo, to homegrown brands like Meow, Oceedee and more, go square up with these shoes!

Steve Madden

Heels or flats, Steve Madden has been doing plenty with the square-toe trend. For something comfy but not too high heeled, check out these Haddies. If you’re looking for something a bit fancier, then get these tie-ups. Ideal for the summertime with mini dresses and skirts. They also have embellished options for weddings and occasions in colours like amber, white, gold and purple.

LBB’s Favourite: Lavender Monte Carlo

Sanyaa Muthappaa

We’ve tried, tested and loved Sanyaa Muthappaa’s shoes, and while she doesn’t do all trends, and doesn’t have too many options, you can rest assured that she will pick MUST-FOLLOW trends. A lot of her slides with straps, double straps or even fun multi-coloured and printed shoes, she has lots if you’re looking to square things up!

LBB’s Favourite: Solid Tan Block Heels

Meow

Ever since we discovered Meow for and on LBB, we’ve been giving our heart and money (not too much either as it’s reasonably priced under INR 1,500!). They’ve been doing chain, transparent, embellished and ruffle-strapped sandals in addition to square-toed heel tie-ups.

LBB’s Favourite: Black Overlap Strap Flats

Bombay Brown

For slides and sleakers (sneakers + slides), Bombay Brown should be on your list. They’ve got floral, denim scalloped edge ones (that say Wifey For Lifey, no less!), and even embellished and quite OTT ones thanks to bright prints and sequins. Available on Oogan Market this brand is great for all things square. And shells as they use them a fair amount too!

LBB’s Favourite: Embroidered Laced Suede Sleakers

Zebba

Zebba is a solid favourite with LBB users and the crew alike. They do not shy away from doing trends and doing them with plenty of options. Even with square toes, they have flats, scrunched, nude, V-strap, solids, studded, stone embellished and sequined options.

LBB’s Favourite: Coloured Stone & Shell Embellished Strap Slides

Aldo

Go all out with the square toe shoe at Aldo. From heels and flats to bright colours and pastels too. They also have a lot of woven-strapped and block heels, so if you want to tick off three trends, then Aldo is your best best. Like these ones, called Bubble.

LBB’s Favourite: Neon Juliet Heels

Mango

Mango is busy doing two trends in one with their collection of Penny Loafers in square toe. Actually, make that three trends because they’re skipping the black and brown only for lavender and whites too. They also have a few heeled ones, especially with slim heels and ruched leather mules. But we’re sticking to the cool loafers. They are in a cool androgynous style that is chunky and striking, and perfect to wear all year round!

Oceedee

Over at Oceedee, we get distracted by their striking and offbeat heels, but focus on the lovely leather loafers. With a minimalist, sleek, two-tone design, pick from black and rust, blue and black, grey and white among others.
