What Makes It Awesome

Mamagoto is in constant innovation mode and if you look back on their trajectory, they pretty much pioneered meals in a bowl with their Chiang Mai Train Curry and that entire section of the menu. Apart from the innovation, it's how true they remain to real Asian flavours with fresh ingredients and authentic preparations. This time around, they're stepping into summer with the Mama's Bowl Manifesto, a selection of meals in a bowl which focus mainly on regions of China.

For meat lovers, the best has got to be the surprisingly light and deeply flavoursome, In Da {Canton} House Pork made with slow-cooked pork with chives in peppery wine sauce, served with Cantonese style vegetables and Udon noodles. Add a side of the incredibly soft and fluffy Duck Bao which is double cooked, first steamed, then fried, and each slice is dusted with the aromatic five-spice powder and trust me, you'll be planning your second visit while you eat.

Vegetarians needn't despair, this mini menu serves up three vegetarian bowls to choose from. Like Tofu? You can order the Tofu 2 Way, which is Tofu in pepper sauce and Tofu salt and pepper that's served with Udon noodles and veggies, or the Aromatic Rice Meal and Tofu in a homemade aromatic chilli sauce served with jasmine fried rice and rocket salad. Then there is the Medium Hot Mushroom, which has assorted mushrooms, chilli reduction, spring onion, udon noodles, and dry red chillies to add an extra kick!

What Could Be Better?

Everything is close to perfect at Mamagoto, adding some Asian desserts to the menu would be an icing on the cake.

What's My Pro Tip?

If you're going with a group then try as many bowls as you can, since the portions are big, they are ideal for sharing. Try the 8 Treasure Bowl Lamb with vegetables in garlic, edamame, and celery that comes with veggie fried rice.

Anything Else?

Best way to finish a meal at Mamagoto is with their homemade coconut ice cream which they do with desiccated coconut and not the tender one giving it a deep caramelised flavour.
