For All Your Meat-ings

To start with, peruse the Cicchetti {small plates and tapas style dishes} menu at Sorrento, which is also shared by Grappa {the bar next door}. This comprises the usual bruschetta, salads and a variety of Neapolitan pizzas. Chief among these is the Salami Picante pizza, which is a must order for all those who enjoy their oink.

If you haven’t tried rabbit meat so far, it might be a good opportunity to acquaint yourself with it here, with the Agnolotti stuffed with rabbit and slow-cooked pork. For the mains, stick to the Black Cod with roasted forest mushroom and Chicken Sous Vide with macaroni ziti, and you’re bound to go home happy. The Stozapretti with Italian sausage however, can be given a miss.

Vegetarians, don’t be disappointed just yet. One of the things we liked best here was the Fagottini with ricotta and lemon—delish ravioli stuffed with ricotta, served with a lemony sauce and bell pepper puree. Not to forget the Caprese salad, a winner during the hot summer months.

Dolci

Our favourite part of the meal perhaps, was the dessert. Apart from the classic Tiramisu {which is a super-light affair here served with bits of almond biscuit and coffee gelée}, they’ve got a wide range of home-made gelatos and sorbets. Our personal recommendation would be the Caramelised Pineapple gelato; the Cream Cheese is next on our list. As is the Orange Campari sorbetto.

What Else?

You can even take back a little bit of Sorrento home. We’re not talking about doggy bags, but a range of fresh cheeses and meats imported from southern Italy. Choose from Parma Ham, Salami Napoli, Mortadella, Mozzarella etc. Might be a good idea if you’re planning a fancy wine and cheese soirée.

All in all, Sorrento is the ideal destination for when you want to splurge on a fancy meal with lots of wine.
