Moving away from the Konkan & Coromandel Coast, where Stranger & Sons gin originally sourced their ingredients, you’re now privy to a whole different coastline - Australia. Partnering with Four Pillars Distillery, Third Eye Distillery (where Stranger & Sons is the flagship spirit) bring you two new variants in the form of Spice Trade Gin and Trading Tides.
While we’re still to try either of them (give us a shout if you’ve sampled them!), we’re told that Trading Tides is a Coastal Dry Gin crafted by Third Eye Distillery and is inspired and created by flavours and botanicals indigenous to Australia. Distilled with Australian lemon myrtle, anise myrtle and river mint and a few Indian flavours of mangosteen, kokum and tamarind, Stranger & Sons crafted this one, which is citrus-y, refreshing and with hints of mint. The other variant - distilled at Four Pillars - Spice Trade Gin features turmeric, finger lime, teppal, long peppers, red chilli and black cardamom, for this bold and vibrant gin.
Not just ingredients though, both distilleries have even shared processes and intel on the heritage of the places, so the culture of Australia and India could come out in the flavours - one more vibrant and spicy, and the other more relaxed and fresh.
Now whether it’s a “strange” collaboration of an absolutely magnificent one, we leave it to you to drink and tell, folks!
